Fishing off Nelson Island

You never know what your going to catch up here but so far we have caught: Spring Salmon, Lingcod, Red Snapper, Green Lingcod, Rock Cod, Flounder, Ratfish (not for eating), Prawns, Red Rock Crab, Octopus, this list will grow.

How To Get Here

This cabin is remote and that is what keeps it so magical. To Get here you begin the trip by catching the ferry from Horseshoe bay to Langdale which takes approximately 40 minutes. Once disembarked from the ferry follow highway 101 through Sechelt until you reach Maderia Park in Pender Harbour. Here you will find an IGA Grocery store, BC liquor store, Harbour pizza, the coffee shop, gas station, legion, hotel, and the Grasshopper pub. At the marina there is a free boat launch if you have your own boat as well as free parking. There is also, in the summer, an Ice cream shop, a fish boat selling fresh local crab and frozen prawns and a prawn boat for hire (rick at 1 604 741 3683) . In the harbour there is a fuel dock across the bay. Once you depart the ride takes around 40 minutes and is breathtaking in its rugged beauty. As you round Cockburn point you enter a hidden entrance to Cockburn Bay. The entrance is riddled with rocks that are exposed in a tide of 6 or less so slow entry and a bow watch is required. We are in the middle of the North side of the bay, facing South, the second dock on the left. Welcome to our paradise.

Included With The Cabin

I thought that I should list the items that are included with the cabin.

*all the power outlets are 12v so please do not plug your regular electrical things in these outlets.

Kitchen: 24" Gas range, smaller propane fridge, two coolers, sink, cutting board, pots, pans, knives, cutlery, spoons, utensils, coffee pots, kettle, frying pans, spices, tea, hot chocolate mix, coffee grinder, glasses, mugs, plates, 5 gallon drinking water dispenser, emergency food. (we only bring coffee beans and food)

Living Room: Futon (sleeps 2), Hide a Bed (sleeps 2), coffee table, cell phone booster, cards, crib board, poker chips, board games, acoustic guitar, CD player, wood stove, books, novels.

Bathroom: Sink, Shower, toilet, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toilet paper, cleaning supplies.

Bedroom #1: Queen bed, pillows, duvet

Bedroom #2: Double bed, duvet, pillows, spare sleeping bags, inflateable mattress.

Dining Area: square table and chairs for four

Entrance: closet, flash lights, rain gear.

Deck: deck chairs, BBQ

Tool Shed: Tent, tools, fly fishing rods and gear, firewood is on the side.

Dock: old 14' Aluminum skiff, 40' cedar dock, 30' slippery when wet ramp.

Fishing/Prawning gear: can be negotiated.

Sheets, Towels and Linen are not included so please remember to bring your own.

Things to bring: Food, clothes, sheets, linen, fishing gear, hiking shoes, camera.

Animals to watch for: deer, woodpeckers, eagles, ducks, whales, porpoises, dolphins, elephant seals, loons, otters, painted turtles, sea lions, seals, herons, humming birds, toads, endangered red bellied tree frogs and soooo much more.
